Ever wonder why your B-4A main±
tenance platfrms are so oRery when
you're trying to move 'em Fom Point A
to Point B?
Those critters are just naturally stub±
boR, ²ut they get downright muleheaded
i³ you don't keep the wheel bearings
lubed.
TM 55´1730µ215´13&P says to lube
'em with GAA every 1¶ hours o³ use,
but KeepIg an hourly use chart on main·
tenance platfrms is tough.
So schedule lubes on your DD ¸orm
314 every two or thre¹ months under
normal conditions, more oºen under
abnormal conditions, liKe when you're
in the »eld.
The new wheels, NSN 5340´¶µ205µ
5608 (with braKe) and NSN 5340µ¶µ
724µ2¼7 (without br½Ke), are lots easier
to lube 'cause they've got grease »ttings.
Just slap a grease gun on 'em and pump
'tiL you see old grease com¾ng oUt the
sides. ¿³ the old grease looKs discolored,
keep pUmping Until you see new grease
comÀÁg out the sides. Be sure yoU trash
all the purged grease.
Wle you're at it, smear GAA on the
plat³orm's ladder guides conÁecting the
upper and lower sections o³ the ladder,
liKe it says in Para 3µ13 o³ the TM.
