Here³s how to make a du´abLe FOD pod ThaT doubLes as a µeL sampLe
storage area and a ±Ire extinguIsher poInt²
St¶rt with an empty 55-gal oiL drum² Cut o·f the top wiTh drum cutteR,
NSN 5110-00¸426-9964¹do not use a cutting torch to remove the top²
CLean It inside with P-D-680 drY cLeanIng soLvent² ºhen »ut about haL± a
90¼Lb ½ag o± pre-mIxed concrete, NSN 5610¸00-985¸1800, in the bottom
o± the drum²
ºiLt the drum sLIghtLy whiLe the ¾concrete hardens² ºhen driLL a ¿w
draInage hoLes just above the Low sIde o± the concreteÀ ºhat'LL keep water
Áom coLLectIngÀ
Âeverse the push¸top on The receptacLe cover, NSN 7240-00-783-1044,
so It has To be LIÃed open² ºhat makes it easier to insert and remove thIngsÀ
Paint a 5¸gaL miLitary µel can yelLow and mark it "CONºAMÄNAºED
FL."
Ät goes insIde the FOD pod to hoLd ·UeL sam»Les that you caÅ
dispose o± Later²
Æse an oLd, topLess 5-gal oiL can to hoLd FOD junk² Store the can inside
the drum² Even i± you ±ILL the can to overfLowing, the junk stays sa¿Ly
Inside the pod²
