²f you' re operating in a wet or humid
envIronment, or If your bird has been
doWn ³r an extended period ³r what´
ever reason, you probably need more
lube on the lockpIn.
²f you fAil µo lube the pin often
enough, it maY not lock or unlock oN
command. Then, when the bird's towed
or taxied, the pin will sheaR In two.
¶oU can prevent Rust buildup on the
lockpin by coating it with aircraft
grease, ·²L¸G±81322. Move the pin
up and down wIth the manual lever to
make sure it moves Feely.
¹f tHe pIn ºon»t move Fee and easy,
pUt a drop or two of penetratIng oIl on
it. ¼S¼ 6850½00±508±0076 gets a 1±oz
can.
But keep oil and grease away Fom
the landing geaR weaR plate on the fOrk
assembly below the lockpIn. The wear
plate is Te¾on±¿ined and will deteriorÀ
ate fAst if itÁs soaked with lube.
¹f you acCidentally get oil or lube on
the wea plate, remove the lube with
a clean cloth and wash the p¿ate with
soap and water.
