Lots of TOWs have to be called NMC because the missile guid-
ance set batte± has fewer than four wing fasteners.
The fasteners don't stick
around long because their retain²
ing clIps snap oF when TOW
crews jerk the batte± out of the
MGS without ful³y unscrewing
the fastener´ Without the c³ip,
the fastener Vibrates out and
disappearsµ
We'Ve held fast to fasteners by checking for the retaining cl¶ps
when TOWs come back from the ·¸eld¹ ºf a cl»P ¼s missing, we get
replacements,NSN

don½t¹ The wing fastener retaining clip is the same clip used on the
pins for the azimuth and eleVation coVers for the daysight¹ You can
put on the cl¾P with p³¶ers¹
¿f you can't Ànd cl¶ps, ask your armorer to wrap lock wire around
the fastener where the c³ip would normal³y be¹ He should cut oÁ the
wire's end as close to the fastener as possible so nobody gets
poked in the Ànger¹

Your wing fastener suggestions are good ones to fasten onto.
It will also help if you tell ±our TOWsters to make sure ²hE completel±
unscrew all the wing fasteners before the±
pull out the batteR³´ And the± should slowl±
liFµ the bat¶e·³ straight up and not jerk it
out¸ If th¹ feel ·ºsistance, th¹ need to
check the fasteners again» That will save
most fasteners´
