Delaware National Guard suggested
replacing the timing light with one that
uses cheaper bulbs. The idea saved

The pocket knife in the General

awarded $4,000.

TX, suggested changing the
basis of issue for the Tank Turret
Mechanics Supplimental Tool Kit
to Artillery Maintenance Shop Set
from Artillery Mechanics Tool Kit.
The savings were $978,866.

Report tools that
should be deleted
from the system–
Maybe they aren’t used
anymore. Maybe they
were NEVER used.
Tool modification–
Share your ideas on how to
make tools work better. Save
duplication of effort and give
others the benefit of your
experience. Tell TIPS who
makes the tool. Most items
will show a manufacturer’s
name, code or part number.
Report bad tools–
If a tool breaks, fails to hold
its calibration, quickly wears
out, or can’t take the
pressure it’s supposed to,
report it. Offer a solution
if you have one.
Report tools that
should be added
to the system–
If you know of a commercial
tool that can do the job better,
don’t keep it to yourself.
