4-84. GENERAL.
a.
This section contains requirements
and procedures forthe administrative
storage of equipment that is issued
to and in use by Army activities worldwide.
b.
The requirements
specified herein are necessary to maintain the equipment in administrative
storage in such
a way as to achieve maximum readiness condition.
C.
Equipment
that is placed in administrative
storage should be capable of being readied to perform its mission
within a 24-hour period, or as otherwise
prescribed by the approving authority.
Before equipment
is placed
in administrative
storage, current preventive maintenance
checks and services (PMCS) procedures should be
completed
and deficiencies
corrected.

Report equipment
in administrative
storage in Materiel Readiness and Unit Readiness reports as prescribed
for all reportable equipment (refer to AR 200-1).

Perform inspections,
maintenance
services, and lubrication as prescribed
herein.

Records and reportsto

A 10 percent variance is acceptable on time, running hours, or mileage used to determine maintenance
actions.
4-85. DEFINITION OF ADMINISTRATIVE STORAGE.
The placement
of equipment
in administrative
Gan be for short periods of time when a shortage of maintenance
effort
exists.
Items should be ready for use within the time factors determined by the directing authority.
During the storage
period, appropriate
maintenance
records will be kept.
4-86. PREPARATION OF EQUIPMENT FOR ADMINISTRATIVE STORAGE.
Storage Site
a.
Select the best available site for administrative
storage.
Separate stored equipment
from equipment
in use.
Conspicuously
mark the area "Administrative
Storage."
