HOW TO USE THIS MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
This Technical Manual (TM) contains instructions for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Bridge
Adapter Pallet (BAP). This manual also includes the authorized repair parts for the BAP. These instructions provide
technical information and characteristics of the BAP, as well as servicing and maintenance procedures.
A Warning Summary is located at the beginning of this TM. Become familiar with these warnings and their associated
icons before operating or maintaining the BAP.
This TM includes a list of abbreviations and acronyms that are used throughout the TM.
This TM provides operating instructions, preventive maintenance checks and services, troubleshooting, and
maintenance procedures to keep the BAP mission-ready.
These instructions provide the user with a general knowledge of the equipment, characteristics, and operating
procedures for the BAP.
Instructions are provided for most circumstances that may be encountered during mission operations. However, it
is impossible to address every scenario you may encounter. If you are unsure of what to do after looking in this TM,
always contact your direct supervisor. Emergencies, severe adverse weather, terrain, etc., may require modifications
to these procedures.
This TM attempts to cover all areas of operation and field level maintenance required for the BAP. Personnel should
have completed BAP training courses for their assigned duties. Before you attempt any procedures not covered in
this TM or in training courses, obtain clearance from your commanding officer.
This TM contains a list of publications that occasionally will be referred to for use in conjunction with this TM. When
this is the case, a reference to the list of publications will appear in parenthesis along with the publication number
of the outside reference. The references list will identify the name of the publication.
TECHNICAL MANUAL STRUCTURE
This TM is written in work package format:
•
Chapters divide the TM into major categories of information: General Information; Operator and Field
Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS); Operator and Field Troubleshooting; Maintenance
Instructions; and Supporting Information.
•
Each chapter is divided into work packages, which are identified by a 4-digit number (e.g., 0001, 0002)
located on the upper, right-hand corner of each page.
•
The work package page number is also included as part of the page number located centered at the bottom
of each page (e.g., 0001-1, 0001-2).
INDEXING
Three indexing methods are used to help you locate information quickly:
•
Table Of Contents.
The Table of Contents lists all work packages as well as their figures and tables. It
provides a quick reference to assist in finding the required information. If you cannot find what you are looking
for in the Table of Contents, refer to the Alphabetical Index at the back of the TM.
•
Chapter Title Page Contents.
Each chapter begins with a chapter title page containing a list of all that
chapter's work packages.
•
Alphabetical Index.
The alphabetical index contains a list of all work packages found within this TM, and
as the name indicates they are listed in alphabetical order.
