Read specific gravity on left scale (F) at

point where dividing line between light

and dark (edge of shadow) crosses scale.

NOTE

If edge of shadow is not sharp,

measuring surfaces were not suffi-

ciently cleaned or dried.

Clean

measuring surfaces and make new

test.

Using pencil and paper, write down

reading.

Repeat steps 4 through 9 for

remaining five battery cells.

Using pencil and paper, add all six readings together and divide by 6 to find the average

reading for the battery.

If average reading for battery is below 1.225, charge battery (TM 5-5420-202-10).

If any two of six readings for battery are not within 0.025 of each other, replace

battery (page 10-253).

Replace rubber battery cover (page 10-256).
