EQUIPMENT CONDITION

Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
l
Left splash shield removed (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Two locknuts (M939/A1) (Appendix D, Item 283)
l
Transmission selector lever removed (para. 4-73).
Two locknuts (M939A2) (Appendix D, Item 334)
a. Removal
1.
Remove two locknuts (1), U-bolt (4), clamp (3), and shift cable (2) from transmission lock-in solenoid
bracket (10). Discard locknuts (1).
NOTE
Perform step 2 for M929/A1/A2 and M934/A1/A2 model vehicles.
2.
Remove two locknuts (1), screws (11), clamp (3), and shift cable (2) from transmission lock-in
solenoid bracket (10). Discard locknuts (1).
3.
Remove spring clip (7) and shift cable (2) from manual control linkage (8).
4.
Loosen jamnut (5) and remove trunnion (6) and jamnut (5) from shift cable (2).
5.
Loosen jamnut (14) and remove trunnion (13) and jamnut (14) from shift cable (2) at shift tower (12).
6.
Remove shift cable (2) from vehicle.
7.
Remove grommet (15) from engine cover (16).
b. Installation
1.
Install grommet (15) on engine cover (16).
NOTE
Assistant will help with step 2.
2.
Route shift cable (2) from shift tower (12), through grommet (15), and to left side of transmission (9).
3.
Install jamnut (14) and trunnion (13) on shift cable (2) at shift tower (12). Thread trunnion (13) on
shift cable (2) until shift cable (2) is flush with trunnion (13). Tighten jamnut (14).
4.
Install jamnut (5) and trunnion (6) on shift cable (2) at transmission (9). Do not tighten
jamnut (5).
5.
Install shift cable (2) on manual control linkage (8) with spring clip (7).
