GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Use hoist during front winch repair to prevent
injury to personnel.
WARNING
Vehicle front winch weighs 353 lb (160 kg), except the M936/A1/A2
winch, which weighs 472 lbs (214 kg). Use hoist during repair to
prevent injury to personnel.
a. Disassembly into Subassemblies
1.
Remove four screws (3), lockwashers (4), and top channel (2) from winch (1). Discard lockwashers (4).
2.
Remove four screws (6), lockwashers (5), and rear channel (7) from winch (1). Discard lockwashers (5).
3.
Remove drag brake adjusting screw (12) and spring (13) from end frame (8).
4.
Remove nut (11) from end of tie rod (10).
NOTE
Support drum with overhead hoist and chain.
5.
Separate end frame (8) from drum (15) and drum shaft (14).
