The VTM can fail Confidence Test if a bad transducer is connected
to it. If the VTM fails Confidence Test when powered by W1 (DCA
mode), remove all cables from the VTM and connect only W5, then
clip W5 to the vehicle batteries. If it passes Confidence Test this
way, there is a bad transducer in the vehicle’s DCA. If it fails, the
VTM has failed internally. Refer to TM 9-4910-571-12&P.
• Repeat step 3.

• STE/ICE-R is bad. Replace.

ENTER VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VID):
• Dial 60 into TEST SELECT and press TEST.
• When UEH appears, enter the vehicle identification
number (02) into TEST SELECT and press TEST.
• The number 02 should appear on the display.
• Does the VTM display the vehicle
identification number (02)?
