c. Disassembly

To prevent possible chemical or biological agent casualties, contaminated gas and

particulate filters must be removed and disposed of only by adequately trained

personnel. The unit commander or senior officer in charge of maintenance personnel

assigned to remove and dispose of contaminated gas fitters must prescribe necessary

protective clothing (TM 10-277) to be worn during this operation. The officer must also

prescribe necessary safety measures, including decontamination, that must be

performed before new gas filters are installed in housing assembly (FM 3-5).

NOTE

If any part of air purifier is damaged, replace immediately.

1 Remove four airflow caps (5) from air purifier manifold (4).

2 Remove four screws (9), four Iockwashers (11 ), and air purifier manifold (4) from housing (17). Discard

Iockwashers.
