Check that screws (1), washer (2), pipe plug (3) and nut (4) are not bent or
broken and that they have no damaged threads. If parts are damaged, get
new ones.
NOTE
Readings must be within limits given in table 2-2. If
bearing is not within given limits, throw away bearing
and get a new one. If drive end bell is not within
given limits, generator is nonrepairable.
Check that drive end bell (5) is not cracked, warped or damaged in any way.
Measure bearing bore (6) in drive end bell.
If drive end bell is damaged or
worn, generator is nonrepairable.
Measure bearing (7) inner and outer diameters (8 and 9).
Refer to TM 9-214 to service bearing (7).
Get a new bearing if it is damaged.
