Then you loosen the
screw under the distributor and turn
the distributor until timing is rigHt.
Retigh±en the screw.

Shut off your engine, unhook all of
the timing light leads. But don't put
the light away-you'll need it for a
recheck.

you're careful and don't tear

Set your engine idle speed at
700
R¼½:
WitH the socket HeaD screw key,
slowly turn the mixture adjusting
screw counterclockwise. THe engine
will probably speed up a ¾itt¾e¿watch
the tacHometer. Àeep turning the
screw until R¼½ no longer increases.
Go back to the idle adjÁsting screw
and turn it out until engine R¼½ is
back at
700
R¼½.
Turn tHe carburetor mixture screÂ
clockwise unti¾ engine idle speed is at
640-650
R¼½.
BeFore you Ârap it up, take your ù
tonner out
Ä
for a test run.ºf itÅs still a
little rouÆh, you may need
a
bit more
gap in your distributor breaker poiÇts.
ºf you Had tHe gap set at
.019,
fÈrinstance, try it at
±020±
(Going up on
the point gap will show a lower cam
dwell angle reading.)
Recheck
with
your tachÉdwell
