Dear Editor,
I'm passing along
some tips that
may save a lot of your readers a lot of
Trouble. ±hese're common faults I see
aL of the time on AG visits-and have
seen over ²n' over as a member of the
MAI± (Maintenance Assistance and
Instruction ±eam) back in the States.
±hey're simple problems with easy
solutions. AL it takes to start beating
these Problems is a pair of wide³open
eyes-looking where faults are most
likely to crop up-and then knowing
what to do about 'em .

±ake inner axle seal failure. ±his's
almost
always
caused
by
plugged
breather vents on the axle housing.
´ressure buildup fRom heat in the axle
housing can't escape
, so the seals
blow.
In my experience with these µittle
jewels¶ a twist and a tap won't always
clear the dirt ²n 'junk out of the rascals·
You've got to take a

/15¸in open end
wrench and remove each breather.
±hen you soak it in solvent and blow i¹
out with low pressure air.
±his's needed 'specialºy with trucks
that operate oF»the¸road and in mud³
dy areas.
