Here's what to do to keep your
M5 7.8
traverse healthy:
PAUSE A SECOND -
Your ³ow
divider valve is Built to take high hy´
draulic pressures and heavy ³ow rates of
hydraulic µuid¶ but it can be over·
loaded² This happens if you change
direction with the traverse pedal with¸
out slowing down at the e

If you've been going »ll speed in one
direcRion, let the Rraverse pedal go to
neutral ¼r a second to set the brakes be´
¼re you tromp your ¼ot down on the
pedal to make the cab turn in the oppo¸
site direction² That'll make life a lot
easier ¼r the ³ow divider²

hot to trot² If you step
on it when you climb into
the cab, the cab will start to
turn that very second² ½ou

it'll help you keep your cab
traversing system in shape²
EveryËody knows that you're not permitted Ro use
high·pressure wÌter above the road wheels on the
M578,
but lots of crewmen clean out the cab with pressure
hoses² High pressure water sprayed on Rop of the travers´
ing assembly gets through the brake and clutch adjust´
ment sealÍ The water in the gear case settles to the bot´
tom where the clutch is locatedÎ This makes the clutch
rust up or slip²
Instead of highÏpressure water hoses¶ use a little
water in a bucket to clean your cabÍ That way you can
control the water¶ and it won't leak down and rust
thingsÍ
