Popped-up potting anD unzippeD cable coverings on your ML63 anD ML67-series
Vu±can systems have been giving heaDaches to crewmen, But some simp±e repairs by
organizational repairmen can cure all that.
Topping the ±ist of ca²±e culpRits
are the W5P2 on the M³63 seRies
and the W2 thru WL7 cab±es on
both ´ystems.
Insu±ation (potting) on some
W5P2 cable connectors causes
them
to stick up too high. The
connector goes on the Jµ jack of the
¶ower supply, in the radar rack.
So, when the radar rack gun·
ner's step is closeD, it pushes down
oN the connector, damaging it.
If the rack is s±ammed dow¸, or
if the quick release pin¹s not inº
stal±ed and someone uses the step,
mash goes the connector.

Whatever, the connector is ±arge±y at Fult. To
cure the problem, measure ³! inches »om the
end of the connector (meta± included).
Working toward the wiring, care¼±ly trim o½
the potting with a knife. Make the trim area
about the same size
a
the caBle. ¾o not cut into
the caBle.
When you¿re through, seal the triÀmed area
with sealing compounD ÁSÁ 8040-00-701-
9546 (5Âoz Ãube).
Áot a±± W2 thru WÄ7 cab±es have the probÅ
lem. Even so, the heaD shed Æi±l put better ca·
Bles intO the supply systeÀ soon.

ELECTRICA CaBLES
The coveri¸g on the W2 thru
W³Ç electrical cables cracks and
peels o½, ±eaving the inside wir·
ing to snag or Break. It a±so strips
insulation o½ the wiring.
