You use it like so:
´rive the vehicle forward onto a
hard surface anD let it roll to a stop-
withoUt using the brakes.
µemove the track shrOuD¶ Cl¸an ¹ut
the Dirt anD crud froº the track sho¸
Pin holes on the outboard siDe.
Measure tHe trAck tension»for alL
vehicles except the M548 and M730»
by
putting
the
gage
between
the
second roadwheel and ¼he track. ½f t¾e
gage wil¿ fit, the tension is
OK.
½f the
gage wonÀt go, the track is too loosÁ.

Track tension for
M730 is measuÂeD By holDing the gage
against the track Ãt the centerline of
the
s¸conD
roaDwh¸el.
The
ÄoÃD
surface of the roaDwhe¸l must show in
the ÅÆin hole. ½f it doesnÇt, th¸ track is
too loÈse.
M¸asure track shoe Bushing Wear
on the stÄaight

inÉ of the track. ´o
not try Êto m¸asËr¸ th¸ shoes going
ÌrounD the DÄive sprocket.
If you can put the Dowel pins ofÍthe
gage in the bushing bore from shoe to
shoe, the bushings are
OK±
µeplace
shoes that ÎonÇt pass this test.
Measure tÏe sprocket wheel tootÏ
wear by resting the gage on
