over on some howitzers.
So remember, the UNLOCK posi-
tion is with the detent handle ´nob
turned as far outboard as it will goµ
The LOCK position is 90° from the
UNLOCK position with the handle

board stopµ
To make this easier to remember,
have your organizationa· maintenance
stencil ¸OCK and ¹NLOCK in the
right places with º»inc¼ stenci· ·etters.
½ere's another jewel to ´eep inside
your head: Both handles haVe to be in
stepµ If one ¼andle is in ¸OCK and t¼e

other in U³LOCK, you¾re going to
have problems if you raise the spade,
lower the spade or fire the howitzer.

LOCK when you raise or lower the
spade.
When Àou have the spade cÁmpleteÂ
ly raised aÃd also when you are readÀ
to fire,

fingers
clear
oF
the
LOCK/UNLOCK rod wheÈ you're
raising the spade. Éingers caught
between the rod and the Äac´ oF the
weapon cou·d get crushed.
