Air damages the plates inside
your batterY when you let the elec-
tRolyte level drop below the tops of the
plates. ±ou wind up with poor batte²³
power and short batte´ lifeµ To
protect the plates from air damage,
you've got to keep the_ electrolyte
(battery acid) over the tops of the
plates.
³f you faIl ±o keep ´attery
cable and clamp connections
tight, you'll have trouble wi±h:
a.
engInµ starting
battery freezing

battery going dead

³f the clamp Is not tIght on
the pos±, the first thing you do is:
a.
tighten ±he clamp with the
right size wrenches
coat the clamp and post
wIth gRease
take ±he clamP off, Inspect
the c¶amp and post foR
corrosion and, If needed·
clean the insidµ of
clamp and ±he ou±sIde
of the
