U-Joint Screws ScreW-up

are getting wrecked because screws
work Loose in the power train univer-
saL joints. Shafts or U±joints ²ose their
screws and batter the transmission
housing to pieces wHen tHey break
Loose.
The screws (boLts) securing the U-
joints are ²oose on many vehicLes³ The
screws got tHis way because they were
not proper²y torqued when they were
instaLLed or serviced³ Screws that Have
been over´tightened strEtch³ They'LL
back out, and whatever tHey were
supposed to ho²d becomes ²oose³
You mechanics shouLd check aLL the
drive train U±joiNt and shaftµ¶crews
for Looseness³ If there is evidence that
hey·have s¸retched¹ repLace theº³
If they seem to be Ho²ding the
torque of 35±40 ²b±ft, Leave 'em aLPne³
