Igniter Cup Heater
µveN with the handy igniter cup to
preh¶at and ignite the heater, there's still
a knack to getting hot w·ter.
Preheat the fue.
This is a must. In
order ¸r the immersion ¹eater to oper-
ate, the correct ±ow of air must be
starºed be¸re you »ig¹t the burner. ¼irst
of½, oPen the fue³ tank vent plug and
swing out the igniter cup under the ¾el
va³ve. See ¿f there's a wick in the cup
and t¹e retainer spring is working.
Àext, open the ¾e³ va³ve ti³³ the cup
is 1/ 4 fu³³ of gaso»ine, or unti³ t¹e wick
Ás complete³y saturÂed. Close theÃfue³

ThE fUEl
Àow swing the cuÉ back iÊto the ±ue
and ³Ët ¿t buÌ there ¸r 1to2 m¿nutes.
TÍs'³l preheat the ±ue.
Start 'er up.
After the time's up,
swing the cup out under the ¾e³ valve
agaÎ. Open the va³ve and let the streÏ
ignite Ðom thÑ burning cup.
Ho³d oÒe! Àever ³et your curiosity get
t¹e best of you at t¹is point. Óeep your
fÔce away Ðom t¹e burner c¹amber.Õ
T¹ere cou³d be a ±ash

the pan ´.´ and
you'd wiÒd up w¿th singed skin ´´´ or
worse. Swing the ³ighter cÖp back into
the ±ue.
The ×e s¹ouØd be going Ùeat Now.
Adjust the ¾e³ dr¿p to just be³ow the
smoke point. A haze coÚiÒg Ðom t¹e
stack wi³l te³l you Û¹ing's OK.
