Multifuel Engine Oil Pressure .±²
Match GAge to Pressure
Dear Half-Mast,
We've tried everything we can
think of to solve the problem of
high oil pressure in our
2Y±-
and
5±ton multifuel engine trucks.
We changed both the oil
pressure gage and sending unit
and checked the ele
trical
system.
But the gage still hits the
top²60 PSI²
at idle speed. The
inspectors want to deadline the vehicles,
anything wrong. Got any ideas ³hat'll help?

Normal oil pressure can vaR quite a bit fom one multIel engine to another.
So just because the gage will only measure a mAimum o± 6 pounds doesn't
mean that a reading o± 6 pounds is too high²
Some multIel engines have a no³al oil pressure above the 6 pounds on
the gage. ´n ±act, oil pressure as high as 75 PS´ (t 2,60 µPM is acceptLble²
To keep tabs on multi¶el engines th·t no³ally show high oil pressure, replace
pR³SSUR³ GaG³
N´N 6620-00µ115¶904·
the ¸0-lb gage and sending unit with a 120¹lb gage, NSN ¸¸20¹00º»/5¼9042,
and sending unit, NSN ¸¸20¹00¹993¹554½²
´± oil pressure goes above 80 PS´ and stays there a¾er your engine reaches
its no³al operating tempe¿ture, you may have a serious problem² Get your
support to check things out.
