More is not better when it comes to lubricatIg the OH-58A/C tail rotor
gearbox.
Overflling causes oil leakage. Then tail rotor truN±ion bearings
suFer² ³hey wear ´ster and have to be replaced sooner.
So, Kiowa mechs, eyeball the gearµ
frl-±²³

box sight gage.
Add just the right
amount o¶ oil. Add a little at a time
and let ·he level s¸¹bºe. Add a little
more, i¶ needed, to get ¸he right indica»
tion on the sight glass.
That's 1/8 inch above the oil level
line with standard gear. When high
gear or ¼oats are installed, the oil level
should Be even with the line.
