iN TM 43±0139, ²aiNting InstructioNs µr Field Use.
Beµre you start makiNg like ²icasso, here're two things to keeP iN mind:
¶o Person is to use more than a quart of CARC a day.
Only one PersoN Paints on an item at a time³
CARC±Painted equiPment must be sPot PaiNted only with CARC. You can
use CARC to sPot Paint equiPment PaiNted by the old (alkyd) method, but alkyd
PaiNt must not be used on CARC±Painted equiPment.
For the exterior of equiPment, CARC is Polyurethane PaiNt (²U²) over ePoxy
Primer. For hull·tyPe vehicles with a white or seaµam green interior, CARC
is ePoxy enamel over ePoxy Primer.
Most equiP¸eNt Painted in the new 3±color camou¹age Pattern (green, brºwN
aNd black) is CARC³ An excePtion is the CUCV, which is Painted with acrylic
eNamel but must be sPot Painted with CARC. If your equiPment's Painted in
the old 4±color ca»ou¹age Pattern, it may or may not be CARC¼ If ground equiP½
meNt is PaiNted solid green, it's because no Pattern was available at the time.
How can you tel¾ if your equiPmeNt's Painted with CARC? Most CARC±Pai¿ted
equiPmeNt is identiÀed by "CARCÁ Printed near the equiPment data PlateÂ
But if there's aNy question, test the Paint. Soak a rag with acetone (like ÃngerÄ
nail Polish removeÅ). Rub the rag briskly on the Painted surÆce µr about 20
seconds. If little or no Paint rubs oÇ, it's CARC.
