engine
overheating.
C³RRECT C³O´ANT ´EVE´µ
Operate with Low coo²ant ²eveLs and you
can overheat and ruin your engine.
Check cooL¶nt Leve² d¶i²y befre opera-
tion. Be sure cooLant is at the botto±
o· the radi¶tor ·i²²er neck (·or the
Ml 13Al ¸±iLy) or within 1 /2 inch o·
the ¶uxiLiary ¹nk ºi²Ler neck (·or the
Ml 13A2 ¸±i²y). Keep the ²eveL up at
aL² ti±es.
A·ter you start the engine, set the
hand tHrottLe and ru» the engine at
800¼1,0½ RPM fr ¶t ²east 3¾5 ±inutes
to war± up the coo²ant and the engine
oi².
(Note: Nor±a² id²e o· 650¿700 RPM is
too Low. It wi²² cause carbon to bui²d
up
around
the
v¶Lves
and
in
the
cy²inders.) In co²d weather it takes
²onger to war± up your coo²¶nt.

you shut oà the engine, Än it in neutÅa²
at about 1,000 RPM ·Ær 2 ±inutes or
so. At the end o· the 2 ±inutes, set the
engine back to id²e (650¼700 RPM) ¶nd
check the instru±ent pane² fr nor±aL
Ç· you h¶ve to add ±ore than 2 quarts
readings. Then, i· everything is OK,

at one ti±e, have your
±echanic give the syste± a co±p²ete
