Materiel CondITIon ³´gs µµ¶
YoU Remove it, YoU Tag It!
Dear Windy,
Are we required to attach materiel condiTon tags to Components
and parts removed froM an aircraft which are intended to be rein-
staLed on the same aircraf±?
²an't we just attach manila tags ³ith the aircraft serial number
and Componen± nomenclature?

Dear Sergeant J.S.,
DA Pam 738-751 has the final word on materiel condition tags. It states in
Para 2±25b that tags will be securely ²ttached to all unin³talled or ³tored
components.
That's because anything can happen to a part once it has been removed´
Suppose the mech who removes the part falls and breaks a leg and is out of
work for a month.
·
that removed part is not taggedµ it could get trashed or
installed in the wrong aircraft or anything!
The point is that you could wind up repairing and replacing a lot of peRectly
good components
¸
they're not tagged when they¶re removed Fom a bi
