If you have the old firing pin springs
that are not crimped, remember they
can fAll oF the firing pin when you
take apart the bolt. Take o± the spring
and put it in your pants pocket so it
won't get lost²

won't go in, check the alignment of
the holes. Clean and lube the pin to
help it slide better.
¾LP's fine ¶r yoUr barrel when it's
going back to the arms room. But it's
terrible ¶r firing. ·s the barrel heats
up, the lube smokes. CLP also takes
the ¿µnish oF a hot barrel, which leads
to corrosion. The bÀÁel should be com¹
pletely dry ¶r firing²
½ven if you've thoroughly clea³ed
your M249, it may need more cleaning
in the Âield. Carbon builds up in the

chamber and causes double feeding

When

change
magazi³es after 200 roUnds, eyeball
the chamber ¶r carbon. If you spot
any, remove the barrel anD run the
chamber brush throUgh it.

The barrel release latch spring wears
out fAst² If the bÅrel ever fAlls oF from
just a slight bump to the release latch,
the spring' s shot. Test release latch ten¹
sion during PMCS² It shouldn't move
easily² Tell your armorer if the spring's
weak.
