cable on the left side fIrst on

graders can be mighty risky-you
could get shocked or even burned.
That's because the disconnect switch
is in the cable Fom the battery negative
to the Fame ground. When the switch
is open, the batteries are not connected
to ground.
That alone would not be a problem.

BUt the supplemental steering motor
circuit complicates matters. When the
disRNnnect switch is closed, complet²
ing the ground circuit, the supple³
mental steering motOr cycles on ´r a
threeµsecond self¶test.

·f you remove the negative battery
cable ¸irst and the wrench you use to
loosen the clamp toUches the battery
holdµdown assembly, you complete the
ground circuit¹ The steering motor
starts its self test, and you get sparks
... and a hot wrench!

holdµdown assemblyÅ

Disconnect the rigHt side posi·
tivE ( +) cable first, and keep it away
from the battery terminal.

Æisconnect any other battery
cables necessary, and liÇt out the leÇt
or right batteryÈ
Äeverse the disconnect procedure to
replace a baÉtery. Êlways hook up thE
