GENERAL
Before the Cargo Bed Cover can be used, a ladder must be installed on the tailgate of the M35A2, 2 1/2 T
Cargo Truck. The ladder is stowed on the inside, left hand surface of the tailgate (while standing and
facing the rear of the vehicle). This installation only applies to the M35A2, 2 1/2 Ton Cargo Truck. It is not
required with the M1078, 2 1/2 Ton LMTV or M1082, 2 1/2 Ton LMTV Trailer.
In order to install the ladder
(1)
, a set of stowage brackets
(2)
must be installed on the left hand, inside
surface of the tailgate
(3)
. Two strap assemblies
(4)
are also installed on the inside surface of the tailgate.
The combination of stowage brackets
(2)
and strap assemblies
(4)
secure the ladder in its stowed
position.
A set of deployment brackets
(5)
is installed toward the rear, right hand edge of the tailgate
(3)
. These
deployment brackets are used to support the ladder in its deployed condition.
The installation process for the stowage brackets
(2)
, deployment brackets
(5)
, and strap assemblies
(4)
involve measuring and locating a series of holes on the tailgate, drilling out these holes, installing
threaded inserts, and mounting the various brackets.
