NOTE

If part is damaged beyond repair, get new one.

1.

Check that outside diameters of worm gear (1), pinion shaft (2), and chain

sprocket (3) is within wear limits. Refer to table 17-8. If parts are worn

beyond wear limits given, get new ones.

2.

Check that worm gear (1), pinion shaft (2), and chain sprocket (3) have no

cracks, breaks or other damage. Using crocus cloth, rub out minor burrs.

If damage cannot be repaired with crocus cloth, get new part.
