MALFUNCTION

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Test charging voltage.

Step 1.

Set multimeter to 50-volt range.

Step 2.

Connect multimeter directly across battery terminal posts: positive lead to positive post

and negative lead to negative post.

Step 3.

Start engine (TM 9-2320-272-10) and allow engine to stabilize at 700-800 rpm.

Multimeter should indicate 26.5-29.5 volts. If not, replace alternator (para. 3-79 or 3-80).
