EQUIPMENT CONDITION
MATERIALS/PARTS
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Two cotter pins (Appendix D, Item 50)
Locknut (Appendix D, Item 299)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Wear hand protection when handling wire rope.
WARNING
Wear hand protection when handling wire rope. Broken wires may
cause injury to personnel.
NOTE
Davit chain must be removed from spare tire before performing
step 1.
1.
Remove four nuts (l), two U-bolts (3), clamps (2), chain link (4), and thimble (5) from wire rope (6).
2.
Remove screw (8) and wire rope (6) from winch barrel (7).
3.
Remove wire rope (6) from swing davit (9) and pulleys (12) and (10).
NOTE
Inspect wire rope for cracks, frays, and abrasions, and lubricate as
necessary (LO 9-2320-272-12).
1.
Install wire rope (6) on winch barrel (7) with screw (8).
2.
Remove two cotter pins (16) and davit pin (15) from swing davit (9). Discard cotter pins (16).
3.
Remove locknut (14), washer (13), two spacers (11), pulley (12), and screw (17) from swing davit (9).
Discard locknut (14).
4.
Wind wire rope (6) evenly on winch barrel (7), and thread through pulley (10) and swing davit (9).
5.
Loop wire rope (6) over pulley (12) while installing pulley (12) in swing davit (9) with screw (17),
two spacers (11), washer (13), and new locknut (14).
6.
Install davit pin (15) in swing davit (9) with two new cotter pins (16).
7.
Install wire rope (6) on chain link (4) and thimble (5) with two U-bolts (3), clamps (2), and four
nuts (1).
