3-222. WHEEL RIM STUD REPLACEMENT

EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Wheel(s) disassembled (para. 3-220 or 3-221).
a. Removal
1.
Place wheel rim (3) on flat surface, with wheel studs (2) facing up.
2.
Install nut (1) on wheel rim stud (2) with six turns.
3.
Strike nut (1) with hammer until wheel stud (2) is loose.
4.
Remove wheel rim stud (2) from wheel rim (3).
NOTE
Ensure flat side of wheel rim stud head is flat to inside wheel rim.
1.
Install wheel rim stud (2) through hole in wheel rim (3).
2.
Using bolt inserting tool, tighten nut (1) onto wheel rim stud (2) until wheel rim stud (2) properly
seats on wheel rim (3).
3.
Remove nut (1) and bolt inserting tool from wheel rim stud (2).
