1.
Remove four screws (1), strainer screen (2), drainplug (4), and gasket (3) from oil pan (14). Discard
gasket (3).
2.
Remove three screws (9), lockwashers (8), washers (7), aerator (6), and gasket (5) from oil pan (14).
Discard lockwashers (8) and aerator gasket (5) and clean gasket remains from oil pan mating
surfaces.
3.
Remove two screws (10), washers (11), suction flange (12), and gasket (13) from oil pan (14). Discard
gasket (13) and clean gasket remains from oil pan mating surfaces.
1.
Clean oil pan (14), aerator (6), drainplug (4), suction flange (12), and screen (2) (para. 2-14).
2.
Inspect oil pan (14), aerator (6), drainplug (4), suction flange (12), and screen (2) (para. 2-15).
3.
Check oil pan (14) for cracks, screen (2) for damage or tears, and oil pan (14), aerator (6), drainplug (4),
suction flange (12), and screen (2) for damaged threads and uneven gasket mating surfaces. Replace
oil pan (14) if damaged or cracked. Replace screen (2) if damaged or torn. Repair or replace oil
pan (14) if threads are damaged.
1.
Install strainer screen (2) on oil pan (14) with four screws (1).
2.
Install new gasket (3) and drainplug (4) on oil pan (14).
3.
Apply thin coating of sealing compound to new aerator gasket (5).
4.
Install aerator gasket (5) and aerator (6) on oil pan (14) with three washers (7), new lockwashers (8),
and screws (9). Tighten screws (9) 10-12 lb-ft (14-16 N•m).
5.
Apply a thin coating of sealing compound to new suction flange gasket (13).
6.
Install suction flange gasket (13) and suction flange (12) on oil pan (14) with two washers (11) and
screws (10). Tighten screws (10) 19-22 lb-ft (26-30 4-168N•m).
