EQUIPMENT CONDITION
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
•
Keep fire extinguisher nearby when using
drycleaning solvent.
•
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do
not use near open flame.
NOTE
Repair procedures for both side rollers are the same.
1.
Remove two screws (6), lockwashers (7), and lockplate (8) from bracket (3). Discard lockwashers (7).
NOTE
Assistant will help with steps 2 and 3.
2.
Remove shaft (5) from bracket (3) and roller (12).
3.
Remove roller (12), two thrust washers (9), and felt washers (10) from bracket (3). Discard felt
washers (10).
4.
Remove two bearings (11) from roller (12).
5.
Remove two screws (l), lockwashers (14), plate (2), and spacer (13) from bracket (3). Discard
lockwashers (14).
6.
Remove two grease fittings (4) from shaft (5).
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent is flammable and toxic. Do not use near
an open flame and always have a fire extinguisher nearby
when solvents are used. Use only in well-ventilated places, wear
protective clothing, and dispose of cleaning rags in approved
container. Failure to do this may result in injury to personnel
and/or damage to equipment.
1.
Clean all roller (12) and shaft (5) components in drycleaning solvent and allow to air-dry.
2.
Inspect shaft (5) for cracks and wear. Measure outer diameter at bearing (11) surfaces. If outer
diameter is less than 2.245 in. (57.02 mm) or cracked, replace shaft (5).
3.
Inspect two thrust washers (9) for cracks and wear. Measure thickness. If cracked, or thickness is
less than 0.055 in. (1.40 mm), replace thrust washer(s) (9).
