5. Five short screws
Install in correct location
(5), four long
in item (3) and torque to
screws (8), and
115-125 lb-ft.

Check end play as follows:
a. Position dial indicator
as shown.
b. Check end play as shown.
If end play is not
End play should be 0.003- within specifications,
0.007 inch.

end play adjustment.
NOTE
Follow-on maintenance action required:
Install rear axle flange (para
3-66).
Install differential lockout
(para 3-71).
Connect front and rear drive shafts
(TM 9-2320-283-20).
Refill differential carrier assembly
(LO
9-2320-283-12).
Install forward-rear axle tires
(TM 9-2320-283-10).
