If damaged, remove lubrication fitting (1)

from hull.

Insert bar through towing pintle assembly

(2) to prevent it from turning.

NOTE

Enter hull through turret well to gain

access to slotted plain nut and cotter

pin.

Remove cotter pin (3) and slotted plain nut

(4) from towing pintle assembly (2) from

inside of hull.

Remove bar, towing pintle assembly (2),

and preformed packing (5) from outside of

hull.

Inspect for broken, damaged, or missing parts.

Repair is by replacement of authorized parts (TM 9-2350-238-24P-1).

Coat threads of shaft of towing pintle assembly (2) and new preformed packing (5) with grease.

Install new preformed packing (5) on shaft of towing pintle assembly (2).

Install towing pintle assembly (2) with new preformed packing (5), slotted plain nut (4), and new

cotter pin (3).

Insert bar through towing pintle assembly (2) to prevent it from turning. Tighten slotted plain nut

(4) until preformed packing (5) is tight against hull but not compressed. Remove bar.

If removed, install lubrication fitting (1) in hull.

Lubricate towing pintle assembly. Refer to TM 9-2350-238-10.
