To install a helicoil insert:

1)

Retract the mandrel (5) of the helicoil inserting tool (8) and place a helicoil insert (3) into the chamber (7) with

the insert tang (9) toward the chuck (6).

2)

Advance the mandrel (5) until it fully engages the insert tang (9). Continue turning the mandrel, advancing the

helicoil insert (3) into the chuck (6) until the mandrel and insert are flushwiththetipofthechuck

.

3)

Hold the helicoil inserting tool (8) firmly and squarely against the work with the helicoil insert (3) aligned with

the tapped hole (10).

4)

Rotate the handle (4) clockwise at a slow uniform rate until the top coil of the helicoil insert (3) is 1/4 to 1/2

turn below the top work surface of the tapped hole (10).

5)

Rotate the handle (4) counterclockwise to remove mandrel (5) from the tapped hole (10).
