Place the punch end (12) of the tang break-off tool (11) into the center of the helicoil insert (3), resting the tool

squarely on the insert tang (9).

Strike the top of the tang break-off tool (11) with a sharp blow (using a soft-faced hammer) to break insert

tang (9) from installed helicoil insert (3).

8)

If needed, use long narrow tweezers to remove the insert tang (9) from insert hole.
