Equipment Condition
Traversing mechanism assembly removed (para 9-1)
a. Disassembly

Remove six washer assembled bolts (1) and two access covers (2).

Remove two retaining rings (3), two spur gears (4), two seals (5), and two roller bearings (6). Discard seals
and retaining rings.

Remove lockwire (7) and ten cap screws (8). Discard lockwire.
NOTE
If threaded holes exist on traversing mechanism upper housing, four cap screws, removed in step 3
can be inserted into these threaded holes to make separation of traversing mechanism upper and
lower housing easier.

Separate traversing mechanism upper housing (9) from traversing mechanism lower housing (10).

Remove and discard gasket (11).

Remove ball bearing (12) from shouldered shaft (13).

Remove lockwire (14), setscrew (15), and block (16) from traversing mechanism upper housing (9). Discard
lockwire.

Remove five cap screws (16.1) and adapter (17).

Remove gearshaft group (18) from traversing mechanism upper housing (9).
