Inspection and Repair.

Check that timing gear cover (1) is not cracked, dented or bent. If timing
gear cover is damaged, get a new one.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent is flammable. Do not use near an
open flame. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby when sol-
vent is used.
Use only in well-ventilated places. Fail-
ure to do this may result in injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
Check that gasket surfaces at bottom and at rear of cover (1) have no nicks,
scratches or

burrs .
Fix minor damage with a fine mill file or crocus cloth
dipped in dry cleaning solvent.
If more repair is needed, get a new cover.
Check that timing pointer pin (2) is not loose, cracked or damaged in any way.
If timing pointer pin is damaged, get a new timing gear cover.
Check that stud (3) does not have stripped threads and is not damaged in any
way. Fix minor thread damage with a thread chaser. If more repair is needed,
take out stud and put in a new one.
