Remove front balance cover (18) and gasket (37) from end plate (38).

Remove oil seal (39) from front balance cover (18).

Inspect oil seal mounting area for scratches or nicks.

b. Installation.

(1)

Install oil seal (1) in front balance cover (2). Seal lip (3) will point inward.
