Use a strain relief on the antenna
cable when you use an RC-292 or OE±
254 antenna system with your
AN/VRC²12. Te the cable to some³
thing soLd near the radio set. ´hat way,
if something or somebody hits the
cable, the sudden yank won't damage
the radio or connector.
Power Play
Befµre app¶ying juice to your radio
set mount, make sure you've connected
the CX·4720 power cable properly to
your vehicle battery.
´He black and green wires go to the
negative terminal. Red and white wires
go to the positive.
Reverse that and you burn out the
M´-1029 power receptac¶e.
Save your radio by keeping it turned
off while you instal¶ it in tHe mount.
Remember to turn it off befµre you
sta¸t or stop your vehIc¶e.
As a reminder, put a DA ¹abel 132,
Wa¸ning Do Not Start VeHic¶e WHile
Radio ºs On, near tHe ignition switcH.

Keep tHe radio of¼ wH½¶e you hook
up cables, too. ´He CX²4722 ¾om tHe

tHe antenna beFre trÀnsmitting. ºf not,

Clean Up Your Act
Make sure all that power gets whÃre
it's going by keeping things clean.
Connectors fµr instance. Keep them
clean by keeping tHem covered when
not in use.
Most have rubber covers. ´he
M´-1029 mounÄ's power connector
covers are NSN 5935ÅÆ»933-3752. ´he
junction box cover is NSN 5935Ȯ-911-
2323.
