Patience Pays iN Fuel Sampling
Taking a Huey fel sampLe can be an unsettling ex-

fel samples be¶re the ·rst ¸Light oF each day. To get
a good sample, let the feL in your bird's tanks settle
a´er refeling. IF you use J±¹4 or J±²5, wait 2 1/2
hoursº
Taking a pre»ight sampLe is the only way to make
sure your bird's fel has no water or other visible con¼
taminants in it. IF you don't allow enough time ¶r the
fel to settle a´er refeLing, you won't be able to tell
iF the ½eL's contaminatedº
There are no requirements ¶r fel settling time
be¶re sampling ¶r other Army helicopters. But fel
samples are required ¶r all Army aircra´, like it says
in ±ara 2²¾Oc oF the ³Mº
Easy Does It
Spare the ¿uscLe, Huey mechs, when
connecting the Àattery cable to the batÁ
tery. Too much ¶rce when you tighten
the conNector knoÀ
c
shear o the two
recessed pins inside the battery recep-
tacle. You'lL have to replace the
connector.
So take it easy when you connect batÃ
tery caÀLesº Use just enough ¶rce to
turn the kÄoÀ past the ·rst resistanceÅ
anD stopº Enough is enough.

The split cones ¶r your rotor hÇbs get equal treatmeÖnt, Cobra mechs. ×hen
yoÇ install themØeither on the main rotor hub or the taiÍ rotor hÇbØmake sÇre
they have equaÙ end²gap spacing.
BÚt once yoÇ've installed them, ¶rget about the split cone spacing. Ûven iF
they touch, there's no need to respace them.
