DON'T BE SHY about calling i²
unit maintenance to clean up your
radio when you're operating ind usty
areas. They'll sweep the heat±holding
dirt oF³ the power tran´istor assemµ
bly and heat exchanger vanes.
You can also tell them to eye¶all
the cooling fan. It ca² get so clogged
with dirt it won·t tur².
Make sure they replace the side
¸anels after they clean ¹he vanes. Tºe
¸anels keep the set cool by directi²g
the fan·s cooling breeze where it does
the most good.

Have unit mainte²ance check out
your sets at least quarterly. They'll
make sure you have the proper balÊ
ance between forward and r̳lected
power. Too much re³lected power
not only builds up heat, it damages
the tra²smitter.
