a. Push down on accelerator lock. Leave

transmission shift control in P (Park)

position.

b. Start engine and check idle speed.

Tachometer must indicate 700 to 750 RPM.

c. Step on brake pedal once until

pressure gauge reads 750 to 900 psi

(5171 to 6205 kPa).

d. Accelerate engine until tachometer reads

1,600 RPM. Release accelerator pedal.

e. Check that accelerator pedal returns freely

to idle position and tachometer reads from

700 to 750 RPM.

Tachometer is

inoperative or

missing.

750 psi (5171 kPa)

cannot be

obtained.

Binding prevents

pedal from

returning to idle

position. Engine

surges.
