ENGINE STARTER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT (TRUCKS WITH FLOOR

PEDAL STARTER SWITCH).

TOOLS:

5/8-inch open end wrench

15/16-inch wrench

SUPPLIES:

Starter gasket

Starter adapter gasket

Solvent, dry cleaning, type II (SD-2), Fed. Spec P-D-680

PERSONNEL: One

EQUIPMENT CONDITION:

Truck parked, engine off, handbrake set.

a.

Preliminary Procedures.

(1) Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to para 7-58.

(2) Remove intake air cleaner. Refer to para 4-3.

b.

Removal.

FRAME 1

1.

Using 5/8-inch wrench, unscrew and take off three nuts and three lockwashers

(1).

2.

Tag electrical cables (2) so that they will be put back in the same place.

3.

Lift off three cables (2).
