EQUIPMENT CONDITION
MATERIALS/PARTS
Parking brake set (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Air reservoirs drained (TM 9-2320-272-10).
Filter (Appendix D, Item 122)
O-ring (Appendix D, Item 437)
Two locknuts (Appendix D, Item 334)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Eyeshields must be worn when releasing
compressed air.
a. Removal
WARNING
Air system components are subject to high pressure. Always
relieve pressure before loosening or removing air system
components.
NOTE
Replacement of wheel valve filter is the same for front and rear
wheel valves. This procedure is for front wheel valves.
1.
Remove cap (2) and valve stem (3) from wheel valve (4) and allow tire (10) to deflate completely
2.
Remove two locknuts (14), washers (13), screws (15), washers (16), shield (1), and spacer (12) from
studs (9) and axle flange (11). Discard locknuts (14).
3.
Disconnect hose (8) from elbow (7).
4.
Remove elbow (7), O-ring (6), and filter (5) from wheel valve (4). Discard O-ring (6) and filter (5).
b. Installation
1.
Install new filter (5), new O-ring (6), and elbow (7) on wheel valve (4).
2.
Connect hose (8) to elbow (7).
3.
Install spacer (12) and shield (1) on studs (9) and axle flange (11) with two washers (16),
screws (15), washers (13), and new locknuts (14)
4.
Install valve stem (3) and cap (2) on wheel valve (4).
