Cap and plug set (Appendix C, Item 14)
Antiseize tape (Appendix C, Item 72)
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Eyeshields must be worn when releasing
compressed air.

WARNING
Air pressure may create airborne debris. Use eye protection, or
injury to personnel may result.
NOTE
●
There are three relief safety valves, one for each axle. Relief
safety valves are mounted the same and perform the same
function. This procedure covers maintenance of one relief valve.
●
When removing air lines, plug ends and tag for installation.
●
Perform steps 1 and 2 for front axle relief safety valve.
Disconnect air lines (22), (23), and (29) from connectors (30) and (28) and elbow (26).
Remove sleeve (24), elbow (26), connectors (30) and (28), and reducers (25) and (27) from relief
safety valve (9). Discard sleeve (24).
NOTE
Perform steps 3 and 4 for forward-rear axle relief safety valve.
Disconnect air lines (12), (16), (21), and (19) from tee (14) and elbows (11) and (18).
Remove sleeves (13) and (15), tee (14), elbows (11) and (18), and reducers (20) and (17) from relief
safety valve (9). Discard sleeves (13) and (15).
NOTE
Perform steps 5 and 6 for rear-rear axle relief safety valve.
Disconnect air lines (10), (5), and (8) from elbows (1), (3), and (7).
Remove sleeve (4), elbows (1), (7), and (3), and reducers (2) and (6) from relief safety
valve (9). Discard sleeve (4).
Remove two nuts (34), washers (33), screws (31), washers (32), and relief safety valve (9) from
bracket (39).
Remove nut (41), washer (40), screw (37), washer (36), and bracket (39) from frame (38). Remove
spacer (35) (M936A2 vehicles only).
